Interpretation as a Career: Pros, Cons & Salary Expectations
A Talk by Thei Zervaki (Language Consultant)
About this Talk
Polyglots are defined as individuals who speak many languages. Although many make a career out of their amazing language skills, others keep them as an intellectual hobby. Traditionally, a polyglot gets into the field of language teaching including teaching hacks and techniques for easier language learning.
Interpreters are trained to perform interpretation in conferences, government settings, diplomatic meetings, media, courts, and hospitals to name a few.
The presentation will focus on various modes of interpretation; the training needed; the different contexts and requirements to become an interpreter; the “logistics” of the profession and its future.
Some training and practical examples will also be included so participants can actually understand how this job is done IRL!
