As you move into the intermediate levels of your language learning, you might find that a limited vocabulary is one of the biggest hurdles when it comes to expressing yourself. Every time you learn one word you need, three more pop up! So, how do you learn all those words without burning yourself out or getting bored?
In this talk, Brian and Charlotte from uTalk will explain why you should learn vocabulary that's relevant to you and will talk about some different methods for learning that might come in handy.
They'll also discuss how to get around the trickiness of learning words that use completely different writing systems to English, and that have no roots in the words you might already know. Hopefully you'll come away ready to learn some new words!

Over 20 years of studying phonology, morphology and syntax of indigenous languages in North America and Australia. Also, had a brief stint as a food technologist - but that was another lifetime ago. Currently works as a linguist for uTalk and a linguistics consultant with Miromaa.
