About this speaker
Curt Ford is the creator of the Russian Grammar channel on YouTube. With over 15 years of full-time teaching experience, he is passionate about introducing learners to the subtle and expressive nature of the Russian language through a friendly, low-stress approach.
Curt's fascination with Russian began in high school and led him to major in Russian and German at Pomona College. He went on to earn an MA in Russian from Middlebury College and a Ph.D. in Slavic Linguistics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His academic journey included studying in St. Petersburg, attending the Pushkin Institute in Moscow, and living and working in Russia for several years.
As an educator, Curt taught first- through fourth-year Russian at the University of South Carolina, guiding students from mastering the alphabet to reading works by Pushkin, Tolstoy, Ulitskaya, and others.
Currently, he focuses on online projects designed to help serious students of Russian and advanced learners of English achieve their language-learning goals. His Russian Grammar Library Project (https://www.tips4russian.com) features over 200 interactive videos, together with exercises, quizzes, examples of usage, and more, to enable teachers and learners to spend less class time on grammar, and more on active practice.
